The Hostel

The "Wing of Love" hostel is in Gedera.
It is a home for up to 24 boys, aged 14-18, who take part in a holistic framework that includes a work-and-learn program in our wildlife park.
The boys are youth at risk, who have been referred by the juvenile courts and the welfare services.
In the late afternoons, the boys take part in enrichment activities, including the “Aharay!” project that prepares them for IDF enlistment, the Scouts movement, community involvement with the “Latet” non-profit organization, cycling with the “Katan Aleinu” non-profit organization, football with Maccabi Kiryat Ekron, Karate, and art.
These activities all contribute to rehabilitate the boys.
A team of youth counselors staff the hostel.
The counselors are graduates of the Welfare Ministry courses for working with youth at risk. They also receive regular in-service training from the director of Wing of Love and guidance from a senior social worker.
The staff and the boys reflect the variety of Israel society. They include urban and kibbutz dwellers, religious and secular, Arabs and Jews, new immigrants and old-timers.
